The requirements for legally compliant corporate governance are continuously increasing. To promote professional exchange and actively support the further professionalisation of compliance management, the law firm Pragal Rechtsanwälte is now a supporting partner of the Association of Compliance Managers (BCM).
Compliance is far more than a formal box‑ticking exercise; it is the backbone of responsible corporate governance. As a law firm specialising in corporate criminal law, internal investigations and compliance, we know from daily practice how crucial robust prevention structures are for protecting companies and their governing bodies. With our sponsorship in the Association of Compliance Managers (BCM), we are sending a clear signal about the importance of this field.
Networking and professionalisation in focus
The BCM is the central platform for compliance professionals in the German‑speaking region. It serves as a forum for knowledge exchange, the development of standards and the networking of experts from business, academia and consulting. For us, the partnership is a logical step to contribute our expertise to this strong network and to work together with other stakeholders on shaping practical compliance structures that also withstand legal crisis situations.
Pragal Rechtsanwälte and the BCM: a long‑standing connection
The connection to the association has existed for many years: Kristina Konrad, head of our department for Compliance, Internal Investigations & ESG, previously served as Regional Group Leader North of the BCM and played a key role in shaping the association in this role. From this long‑standing cooperation, far more than a purely professional relationship has developed – a close collegial network has grown, based on intensive professional exchange.
We have already had the pleasure of welcoming the Northern Regional Group to a specialist event at our premises. Under the title “Criminal and civil liability risks in the prevention and defence against cyber extortion”, we discussed pressing questions of IT compliance together with experts and BCM members.
Together with firm owner Dr Oliver Pragal, who as a defence lawyer in business, medical and tax criminal law is thoroughly familiar with the importance of effective compliance from a different perspective and regularly acts as a corporate defence counsel, the firm supports the development of practical, workable compliance structures.
Our contribution to the compliance community
Through this sponsorship, we support the BCM’s diverse initiatives and will actively participate in the professional exchange within the association. We look forward to sharing our experience—particularly in areas such as criminal‑law preventive advice, internal investigations and ESG compliance—with its members. Our goal is to contribute targeted impulses to the professionalisation of the field and to highlight solutions for legally sound organisational structures and effective liability avoidance.
